The Latin word for breathe is spirare, which comes from the word Spirit.

With each inhale, you are taking in Spirit.

With each exhale, you are releasing Spirit.

When we pay attention, we can bring this spiritual experience into our awareness.

To be inspired means to breathe in or take in spirit.

When something “takes your breath away,” it is pulling Spirit out of you into your awareness.

When you inspire someone, you are sharing your Spirit with them.

This painting was created in 2020 during the pandemic. It was a project many artists did on social media to celebrate and honor the gift of breath, as a reminder to slow down and take care of oneself.
