Join Carrie Schmitt as she walks you thru her favorite ways to honor her ancestors and loved ones who have left their bodies with guided ceremony, sharing stories of loved ones, and creating a beautiful and meaningful mixed media mini-altar box or "niche."

Ancestors can be related to us by blood, by choice (any loved one who has passed on to the spirit realm), or thru their profound influence in our lives, such as a writer or musician or historic figure who changed the course of our lives.

We will gather for a special circle discussion and share followed by art-making and sharing food.

Please start gathering special momentos such as photos, trinkets, letters, birth/death announcements, fabric, ribbon, and other small meaningful objects to include in your Altar Box.

Many cultures believe the veil between the worlds is the thinnest at the beginning of November as seen in the Celebration of the Day of the Dead in Mexico and All Saints Day in the Catholic Church and Samhain in the pagan tradition.

WHAT TO EXPECT

During our time together, we will:

*Create mini-altars with mixed media such as paint, collage, photos, ribbon, and more. These are also called niches or shrines that honor our ancestors and loved ones who have left their bodies.

*Share sacred time together with a meaningful opening and closing circle

*Share nourishing food and bond over the beautiful, supportive, and inspiring conversations that happen when we gather with intention and open creative hearts

YOUR SACRED EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:

* All materials including a wooden box frame to use as your shrine. You will need to bring special objects to honor your ancestors (start gathering now), such as photographs, letters, trinkets, natural objects, figurines, and other momentos that represent your loved one or ancestor.

* Dinner, tea, and coffee

* Guided ceremony and traditions shared by Carrie that are her favorite ways to honor her ancestors.
